Censored Words

I was on a popular social media site, and on an MBTI page, I shared my experiences with a particular personality type; said experiences being overwhelmingly negative. It occurred to me afterwards that it's a thin line between making any sort of generalization and what is considered to be "hate speech;" a purported category of speech that covers any sort of generalizations about people according to a somewhat arbitrary set of parameters. If I had made those comments about a group of people based on one of the "hate speech" parameters, as opposed to a parameter not currently covered by said category, I likely would have garnered severe consequences to myself, the validity of my comments notwithstanding. A person's MBTI type is theorized to be fixed early on in life, and is therefore outside of an individual's control. Certain ideologies operate very similarly to a host-killing virus. In this analogy, it is a culture that is the host, and the individuals are analogous, here, to individual cells of the host. In a viral infection, the virus will pierce the cell, and begin to take over its reproductive functions, copying itself endlessly until the cell bursts, releasing the many copies of the virus, which then go on to attach to other cells. In a similar manner, an ideology can sometimes be thought of as a quasi-living thing which is injected into the human mind - typically by an authority figure or, more frequently, someone placed into an official position of instruction over the subject. It then impresses itself upon the mind quite compellingly in that it utilizes the emotional manifold to override the rational faculty. This is a blog that I am publishing under my real name. As such, there are some things I cannot say openly. However, I can be open about the fact that I cannot be open, and why that happens to be the case. That, in and of itself, is its own form of radical disclosure, and that is a boundary that will be explored in this blog. To really explore the boundaries of the Overton Window is, in itself, a valuable exercise. Why would I censor myself in a country that guarantees free speech? Firstly, because, as has always been the case, there are social consequences to speaking without any filter, and secondly, because a particular ideological contingent has managed to undermine freedom of speech by capturing the platforms (such as this one) on which nearly all public ("agoric," as it were) discourse takes place. What I hope to accomplish here is to share my insights in such a way that people see where the facts lead without actually saying anything that might bring negative consequen...
